Always Leave Prepared

On this day, I traveled around with my friend, doing some errands and mainly wasting the last weekend before the daily grind gets started back up...

I even updated Twitter and Facebook and referenced how it was exactly like wasting a day before we had a real grind to go to and were just college kids mooching off the parents...

However, in travels through out Long Island we ended up going down to the West Meadow Beach area, and were surprised with how much wind there was. White Capped water, sand blowing into the parking lot, it was an amazing difference from what we were experiencing in the Mall Parking Lot...

I however, left the house unprepared. Carrying only the camera and a single lens (50mm F/1.4)- it was NOT going to produce the images I wanted.

Bringing us back to the title, it reminds us that sometimes, preparing for a little excursion means going the extra step to grab the camera bag or lens case and head out... regardless... even if you don't think you will find something.

On this day I was lucky, upon being dropped off at my own house, I grabbed my items of need (300mm and 600mm) and jumped back into the car. Chasing the Afternoon light into the glowing amber and the colder weather. It was amazing to see these folks still out in the waves...

They stayed all day, because, they left the house prepared.

Some NYC Photos...

I recently lost my cell phone on the Long Island Rail Road.

Thats such an odd sentance, because, Lost is being used in a place where it should be stated that I "Left" my cell phone on the LIRR - oh well.

The experience is rather interesting because they don't allow you to call by phone into the Lost & Found, you simply set up an online request, to be notified, if they find something closely matching the description.

The system is skewed because there isn't enough places or areas to really describe your item and because of the fact that Blackberry has taken over the market for phones with keyboards. Everyone thinks that my Motorola Q9c is a Blackberry, when, indeed, it is not.

So, the scam is neat. They send you an e-mail, stating that they think they found something matching your description. You must go to Lost & Found and deal with, what I can only describe as Token/Subway booth and watch a person rummage through a few bins of phones that don't even remotely look like what you have described in the form.

The catch is, that there is no way for them to tell you if they really found it, so you must continue trekking into PENN Station to go and deal with the booth.

So, at 24$ round trip from my area to PENN, its going to be pretty costly to get this phone back... That is, that is if it is returned, considering, I was stupid enough to leave it unlocked, or at least, silly Keyboard locked, not really password protected.

Anyways, this allows for pictures :)
